Acea Ato 2 carries out a visual check of the meter directly where it is installed, without it being dismantled. The check, agreed upon by appointment with the customer or his/her representative, ascertains the good state of conservation of the meter and the reading of the numerical quadrant, after viewing the consumption accounting with open taps.
In the event that the check ascertains the correct functioning of the meter (negative outcome), the costs of the on-site verification, pursuant to the current User Regulations, will be borne by the user and charged in the next bill, for an amount of € 47.70 + VAT. In the event that the meter is found to be non-compliant (positive outcome), the costs of the operation and replacement of the meter will be borne by Acea Ato 2, which will recalculate the consumption based on the average value of the last three years, or, in the absence of this information, on the average annual consumption of users characterised by the same type of use (ARERA - Italian Regulatory Authority for Energy, Networks and Environment - Resolution 655/2015, Art. 30.6).
When the intervention starts, the bills will be blocked and suspended for collection and, if necessary, recalculated following the outcome of the verification.

To submit Acea Ato 2 a request for checking the pressure or the fire prevention utility characteristics, you can download the form, fill it in and send it according to the methods indicated in the form itself. Both requests are free of charge for the customer.

Wrong serial number check

In the event that the check ascertains the incorrect assignment of the serial number, the costs of the check are borne by Acea Ato 2, which arranges the appropriate accounting changes and the reimbursement of any sums paid and not due.
In case of ascertained correct assignment of the serial number, the verification costs are borne by the end user and the charge is Euro 47.70 + VAT, as provided in the table of article E.10.1 of the User Regulations. When the intervention starts, the bills will be blocked and suspended for collection and, if necessary, recalculated following the outcome of the verification.

MISE (Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy) cross-examination

Pursuant to Ministerial Decree no. 93/2017, the request for check of the utility meter by an accredited laboratory may be requested from the Rome Chamber of Commerce. In this case, Acea Ato 2 will provide technical assistance for the removal of the meter to be subjected to metrological check and, at the same time, will install a new meter.

When the intervention is opened, invoices will be blocked and suspended for collection and, if necessary recalculated following the outcome of the audit.
