Acea Research & Studies

Acea Research & Studies is the Group’s hub for research on resilient and sustainable water resource management, evolving energy models and scenarios, and Acea’s future positioning in the market.

Leveraging the Group’s strategic and technological expertise, Acea Research & Studies promotes internal and external dissemination of research findings to foster debate and knowledge exchange in support of corporate objectives.

In addition, to foster the development of synergies, the Acea Reseach and Studies hub actively collaborates with experts, national and international research institutes and with think tanks – groups of experts who cooperate to analyze and resolve social, economic, political, and environmental issues.

Key Focus Areas

Water resilience

Water resilience is the ability to ensure access to water despite challenges posed by climate change and rising demand. Acea’s strategy and research focus on wastewater reuse and network digitalization to address these issues. A resilient water management system is essential to drive economic development, protect public health, and enhance community safety.

Wastewater Reuse

Reusing treated wastewater is a key solution to tackle growing water scarcity and achieve net zero water, so that the same liter of water is reused multiple times. Wastewater reuse reduces environmental pressure, especially in agriculture, improves the sustainability of industries, and supports circular resource use.

Network Digitalization

Advanced technologies such as robotics, sensors, and artificial intelligence make water management more efficient and resilient. Digitalization enables real-time monitoring, helps prevent leaks, optimizes resource use, and enhances the overall sustainability of the water sector.
