Our sustainability strategy

Sustainability is an integral part of our business strategies:
by 2028, we will invest €5,5 billion to ensure the resilience and safety of our infrastructures, protect water and the environment, and create shared value for people, suppliers, and communities.

We are an infrastructure operator and a leader in water, energy, and environmental activities. We provide essential services to people and communities. This role heightens our awareness of our responsibilities toward our stakeholders and the economic, social, and environmental impacts we generate.

Our 2024-2028 Sustainability Plan, approved by the Board of Directors in November 2024, is closely aligned with the Industrial Plan “Green, Diligent, Growth”, which covers the same time period. It formalizes our commitment to integrating sustainable development principles into business decisions and enterprise management.

In addition, the goals of the Sustainability Plan and the areas of intervention are aligned with the value-driven principles outlined in our Code of Ethics and the sustainable development targets set by the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda (SDGs).

The first three -  “Infrastructure resilience and security”, “Water protection” and “Environmental Protection”- are closely connected to our core businesses and our role as an infrastructure operator. Primarily, these objectives generate environmental benefits that support the transition to a sustainable economy, including efforts to mitigate and adapt to the effects of climate change.

In addition, they contribute to improving the services provided to communities by upgrading and securing water and electricity infrastructures, as well as enhancing their resilience and flexibility.

The next three strategic goals - “Centrality of People”, “Evolution of the supply chain”, “Value for the community”- focus on creating shared value. We are committed to the well-being and growth of our Group’s people, our suppliers, and the communities where we operate.

Integrating sustainability into the business

By establishing specific responsibilities for ESG areas at the administrative and management levels, defining public commitments, and incorporating sustainability elements into risk evaluation and financing processes.

By educating our employees, empowering “sustainability professionals”, engaging stakeholders, and fostering the development of a sustainable value chain.
