Acea in support of Ottobre Rosa

October turns pink for the month of prevention

Once again, this year Acea supports Ottobre Rosa, an initiative created to raise people awareness about the importance of breast cancer prevention.
From 1 to 15 October, Acea will illuminate the façade of the headquarters of the Lazio Regional Authority - promoting the initiative - with a beam of pink light to emphasize the importance of early diagnosis for the treatment of the disease.
In fact, it will be possible to have free screenings and breast examinations in the participating health facilities for the entire month of October.

What is Ottobre Rosa?

The initiative began in 1992 in the United States thanks to the commitment of Evelyn Lauder, who in October 1992 opened the Evelyn H. Lauder Breast Center, dedicated to the treatment of breast cancer.

Evelyn Lauder, together with her friend Alexandra Penney of Self Magazine, founded the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and established the pink ribbon as a symbol of breast cancer prevention. Nowadays, millions of women are alert and aware thanks to the hundreds of monuments illuminated in pink all over the world.
