Acea for World Energy Saving Day
The artistic and functional lighting project involved the installation of 26 projectors and the use of innovative and sustainable technologies that reduce energy consumption by 50% and add value to one of the most important monuments of Italian Renaissance. During the ceremony, the Italian flag was projected on the monument wall.
New lampposts with LED lights have been installed and the bronze statue of the Bersagliere is now lit by four circular projectors. This project improves visibility at night and at the same time exalts the beauty of the monument.
The entire complex of Porta Pia, which hosts the Museum of the Bersaglieri, has been renovated with six next-generation LED elements that illuminate the bronze busts as well as the monument dedicated to Enrico Toti. At the top of the building, four more projects light up the effigy of the Madonna.

Porta Pia is one of the gates of Rome’s Aurelian walls.
Renown for the Capture of Rome or “Breach of Porta Pia”, on September 20 ,1870. The gate was the site of the battle between the troops of the Papal States and the Kingdom of Italy, which led to the annexation of Rome and the unification of Italy.
The 30-meter breach in the walls made by the artillery of the Kingdom of Italy allowed Italian soldiers, led by General Cadorna, to enter the Papal States.
