Acea for World Energy Saving Day
The project was designed and developed thanks to a donation made by Bruno Vespa, the implementation of artistic and technical lighting by Francesca and Vittorio Storaro and the collaboration between Rome Capital and Acea. In January 2021, it won “Best Outdoor Project” at the 2020 Dali Lighting Awards, the awards established by Helvar&Partners in recognition of the best use of Digital Addressable Lighting Interface (DALI) control solutions in artistic illumination projects and installations around the globe.
The system developed by Acea envisaged the installation of 29 LED lighting fixtures - offering energy savings and high technological quality, for a total consumption of just 1 kW – positioned, by agreement with Rome’s Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape and the Capitoline Superintendency of Cultural Heritage, within a perimeter formed by bollards placed round the column with lighting fixtures and floodlights inserted in specific recessed pits to minimise visual impact, thereby fully respecting the monument.
