Acea for World Energy Saving Day
The new lighting system adds value to the beautiful Old Town of Ostia Antica, one of the most emblematic locations within Rome’s 10th Municipality. Lighting renovation in the Old Town included the implementation of architectural lighting solutions carried out by Acea as part of an initiative promoted by the City of Rome, in collaboration with Parco Archeologico di Ostia Antica.
Work consisted in illuminating the Castle of Julius II and the Paleochristian Basilica of Sant’Aurea, with respectively 28 and 5 LED projectors, and improving visibility on the roads in the surrounding area, by replacing 15 street lamps.
The Old Town, located between Ostia Antica’s archaeological site and the banks of the River Tiber, is surrounded by walls and includes a small number of houses and a little piazza with 15th-century buildings all around it.
The new lighting system of the Castle of Julius II and the Paleochristian Basilica of Sant’Aurea comprises 33 LED projectors.
