Press Release

The Christmas lights inaugurated this evening in Piazza del Popolo and Via del Corso, in the presence of Roberto Gualtieri, Mayor of Rome, and Barbara Marinali, President of the Acea Group, are dedicated to the spirit of the Jubilee.

This year’s project, implemented using low-consumption technologies capable of minimizing CO2 emissions, will illuminate the entire Via del Corso with a sky of lights stretching nearly two kilometers. It features 49 images of water drops, symbols of a precious and universal resource, alongside small luminous globes which – in this Jubilee year – represent the union of all the people of the world that will shine together, transforming these installations into a message of welcome and solidarity.

The Christmas display of these light architectures, which has become a tradition renewed each year, reaches all the municipalities of the capital. This year’s edition introduces a new element: a series of images that will be projected onto the facades of the most iconic or representative buildings in the neighborhoods beyond the city center.

The Acea Group has made light an important tool for communication and the enhancement of urban space, both in the historic center and in the suburbs, aiming to establish Rome as an example of a sustainable city, both in terms of upgrading places and respecting the environment.

“For the lights of this Christmas, coinciding with the opening of the twenty-fifth Holy Year, – stated Barbara Marinali, President of the Group – “the Acea Group has implemented a project dedicated to the spirit of the Jubilee, rooted in hope, solidarity, and welcome. It is not just about Christmas lights, but true artistic installations, created with innovative technologies to reduce the environmental impact, that contribute to enhancing the city’s artistic heritage and upgrading the urban spaces, both in the historic center and the suburbs. These lights represent the entire city and Acea's commitment to inclusion and sustainability, as well as its deep connection with the capital, where it was founded exactly 115 years ago.”
