Interventions are also planned for nine other municipalities in the area

The Municipality of Ferentino, the Area Governing Bodies of the Frosinone Area, and Acea Ato 5 presented the ongoing project in the area aimed at improving the efficiency of the water distribution system during a press conference this morning. The meeting took place in the Council Chamber of the Municipality of Ferentino and was attended by local authorities, representatives of the Governing Body (EGATO 5), Acea Ato 5, and interested citizens.

An Acea Ato 5 project is underway in 10 municipalities in the Province of Frosinone, including Ferentino, aimed at digitalizing and modernizing the networks while reducing water dispersion. This project is part of the NRRP for water networks and involves a total investment of over 33 million euros, allocated as follows:

• €26,744,953.23 financed by NRRP
• €6,499.500.00 co-financed through the tariff of the Integrated Water Service (IWS)
• €145,000.00 co-financed by the Lazio Region

The initiative, which also involves the municipalities of Alatri, Anagni, Cassino, Ceccano, Cervaro, Frosinone, Pontecorvo, Sora, and Veroli - covering a catchment area of 240,000 inhabitants - aims to divide the water networks, approximately 900 km in total, into districts by 30 June 2025, including 18.5 km within Ferentino’s territory. The project also seeks to reduce water loss by 35% across the involved municipalities. In Ferentino, for example, water dispersion is expected to decrease from 139 l/s (2020) to 49 l/s (2026), resulting in an annual saving of 90 l/s.

A total of 37 targeted interventions are planned in the Municipality of Ferentino (21 of which have already been completed and 16 are currently in progress), including strategic works aimed at renewing over 2.5 km of pipelines and major works on Via Pareti Cornella, Via Stella Vado Rosso, and Via Scatuccio Codarda.

In addition to the mentioned project, Acea Ato 5 is currently carrying out a second intervention under the NRRP for the water sector, aimed at enhancing the wastewater treatment and sewage system in the municipalities of Ausonia, Castelnuovo Parano, and Coreno Ausonio, located in the southern part of the province. The project has a total value of approximately 19 million euros, with around 12 million euros funded by the NRRP. It includes the expansion and modernization of the Torrerisi sewage treatment plant, as well as the completion of the sewage networks serving the entire area. This will contribute to the hygienic and sanitary recovery of the area, providing an efficient system for the collection and treatment of urban wastewater for approximately 4,000 citizens. Additionally, the project includes the extension of the sewage system by about 7 km.
