Press Release

The Municipality of Cervaro, the Area Governing Body of the Frosinone Area, and Acea Ato 5 presented the ongoing project to improve the efficiency of the water distribution system during a press conference this morning. The meeting, held in the Council Chamber of the Municipality of Cervaro, was attended by local authorities, representatives of the Governing Body (EGATO 5), Acea Ato 5, and interested citizens.

The initiative is part of the NRRP project that Acea Ato 5 is implementing in 10 municipalities across the province of Frosinone. Its goal is to digitalize and modernize the networks to reduce water dispersion. In addition to Cervaro, the municipalities of Ferentino and Frosinone are also involved (where the works have already been presented in collaboration with local administrations), as well as those of Alatri, Anagni, Cassino, Ceccano, Pontecorvo, Sora, and Veroli, covering a catchment area of 240,000 inhabitants.

The project involves a total investment of over 33 million euros, allocated as follows:

  • €26,744,953.23  financed by NRRP
  • €6,499,500.00 co-financed through the Integrated Water Service (IWS) tariff
  • €145.000.00  co-financed by the Lazio Region

The initiative aims at dividing the water network into districts by 30 June 2025, for nearly 900 km, more than 110 km of which are in Cervaro. It also seeks to reduce water dispersion by 35% across the involved municipalities. In Cervaro, for example, water dispersion is expected to decrease from 52 l/s (2020) to 17 l/s (2026), resulting in an annual saving of 35 l/s. This will contribute to the goal of significantly reducing water abstractions from the environment, thereby protecting supply sources for future generations.

In the Municipality of Cervaro, 87 targeted interventions are also planned (52 of which have already been completed, while 35 are scheduled for implementation). These strategic interventions aim at renewing nearly two km of pipelines and significant works throughout the municipal area.
