#runforwater is the hashtag of the event dedicated to water resource protection

The “Water Marathon” is back again this year. The thirtieth edition of the “ACEA RUN ROME THE MARATHON”, the international running race dedicated to water and water conservation, was presented today in Rome. Acea is the event’s title sponsor. #runforwater is the event’s hashtag, celebrating the deep connection between water and sport.                            

Along the over 42-kilometre race route, which will take place on 16 March, Acea has set up 20 refreshment points where the marathon’s organizers will distribute 330 thousand cartons of water to approximately 30 thousand athletes from 110 nations. Among the locations crossed by the runners are some of the most beautiful fountains of the capital, testifying to the long and uninterrupted connection between Rome’s history and water culture. The race route will also pass by the colonnade of Saint Peter’s Square, where the Acea Group has upgraded the lighting system on the occasion of the Jubilee.

On Saturday, 15 March, the ACEA WATER FUN RUN will take place, the non-competitive 5-kilometre mini-marathon dedicated to families and children. From 13 to 15 March, instead, an Acea stand will be set up at the Expo Village Acea Run Rome The Marathon, at the Eur’s Congress Palace, will host activities dedicated to sport and water education. From 15 to 16 March, at the Circus Maximus in the Marathon Village – where 3 water-supply trucks will be available for athlete sponging and refreshment – Acea will set up an innovative stand to raise awareness among visitors about the importance of the responsible management of water resource.

The Acea Group has also developed the Acquea App, designed for athletes, citizens, and tourists. The app allows users to locate the nearest fountain, nasone, or Acea Water House among 3,500 water points geolocated in Rome, and monitor their body hydration. The Group, a leader in Italy’s water sector, has also launched a water education project in schools. Thanks to a three-year Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Education and Merit, this initiative explores topics related to the water cycle to promote a new water culture among young people.
